The man who was old enough to remember the mother road when she was a young girl was sitting behind the counter at Eisler Brothers Old Riverton Store. We learned he was the father of the man who owned the business.

A retired history teacher, and an excellent historian, he told us the store was exactly like it was back in the 1920s.

It definitely was a step back in time.  We had a picnic under the portico in front of the store.  When I went back inside to use the restroom I didn't see the man at the counter. I asked the son if he had gone home. He told me he was still sitting there.  Destiny had the same experience. She walked past him the second time and didn't see him. We decided he blended in with store's decor like the Duke in the picture above. Wait...is that Thelma? Louise? Oh no, it's Destiny in the photo.

As we headed out to continue our journey, the old historian reminded us to grab a brochure.
